SINAG — BASIC SHADOWPLAY WORKSHOP
What can happen when a simple piece of cardboard meets light, shadow, and imagination?
Led by Karilyo, Sinag — Basic Shadowplay Workshop invites young participants to discover the basic principles of shadow puppetry through a hands-on process of making and playing.
Using simple everyday materials such as cardboard, discarded folders, paper, and wooden sticks, participants will create their own shadow puppets and explore how shapes and objects can be transformed when placed between light and screen. Through this process, children are encouraged to experiment with their hands, imagination, and storytelling while discovering some of the fundamental techniques behind shadowplay.
The workshop also encourages participants to look differently at materials around them. Clean cardboard scraps, old product packaging, and discarded office folders can find a second life as characters, creatures, and objects for the shadow screen. There is no need for expensive materials—sometimes a story can begin with something we already have.
Come ready to cut, make, experiment, and discover what stories might appear when we turn on the light.
